Oil checks 'are vital'

People with antique autos may find they can keep cars running at their best by getting under the bonnet every now and again.

Motor care firm Comma has urged more drivers to start carrying out dipstick tests in order to ensure their vehicles carry on performing at their peak.

It issued this advice ahead of National Oil Check Week, which runs from June 15th to 19th.

The group pointed out motorists who are not confident about assessing the level of this vital fluid can take their vehicle along to their local Halfords store.

It revealed the shop has agreed to offer free checks throughout the duration of the campaign.

Alan Rennie from the firm explained why the group was happy to show its support for the initiative.

"Having the right oil in your car and ensuring it is topped up are incredibly important to the smooth running of your engine," he stated.

Regular servicing may help owners of vintage vehicles prevent problems developing that could potentially cause accidents.

In turn, this could make a collectors car insurance claim less likely.
