Corrie star may need convicted driver car insurance

Although he has escaped jail, former Coronation Street actor Bruce Jones may be charged much higher premiums by insurers in the future.

This is because he has been found guilty at Mold Crown Court of dangerous driving and given an eight-month suspended prison sentence suspended for 18 months.

Jones, who played Les Battersby in the long-running Manchester-based soap, admitted taking the steering wheel from his wife's hand while she drove last year.

Drunk, he shouted "I'll kill us both", when the car was swerving along the A55 in north Wales.

Convicted driver car insurance might be on the cards for the 57-year-old, whose wife also gave evidence to a jury about how he had a dependence on alcohol for many years.

"He hopes by addressing his alcohol problems he can restore both his personal relationships and those who have supported him in his acting career," his lawyer Dominic D'Souza said.

Brown also starred in 1997 Brit flick The Full Monty.
