Phenomenal Success of Nostalgia prompts calls for third event

Historic Sports Car Event To Run Again

Croft Circuit in England's north-east has already received calls for a third Nostalgia event thanks to this year's raging, if a little rain-drenched, success.

Racecourse staff at the track can now reveal that it will run for a third time in 2012 after the Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC), the principle organiser of the event, requested quick confirmation.

Thanks to the work of officials, volunteer marshals, the HSCC and the vintage motor enthusiasts themselves, the bad weather failed to dampen moods as Croft witnessed 16 races across the two-day event, which took place on August 6th and 7th.

"We were hugely impressed by the enormous effort that the team at Croft put in - their co-operation plus that of the marshals and our drivers meant we still got through the whole programme, which was quite amazing," explained the HSCC's chief executive Grahame White.

Classic Motor Vehicles Track Events

The track is meanwhile preparing for another four events still to come this year. Both bike insurance policyholders and providers may be in attendance at the Derby Phoenix Motorcycle Club's race championships, which this year is set to feature some wildcard entries in the form of local aces - the identities of whom are still kept tightly under wraps.

Before that, the circuit's schedule sees the penultimate and then title-deciding rounds of the Darlington and Distict Motor Club's Northern Sports and Saloon Car Championships on September 10th and 11th, and 24th to 25th respectively.

However, Nostalgia remains the biggest event to hit the circuit, drawing in everyone from classic performance car devotees to classic car insurance policyholders.

"For an event in still only its second year, the rate of growth has been phenomenal. It is of course unique to the region and very much in the spirit of other top-notch historic motorsport festivals," explained circuit manager Tracey Morley.

She also reiterated the fact that Croft Circuit will continue its 'free for children' policy as all ages can and should be able to enjoy the thrills of vintage motorsport.
