Honda NSX Origins

The first-generation Honda NSX is a two-seat mid-engine coupe sports car, produced in 1990. It was designed with the intention of exceeding the performance of the then V8 engine Ferrari range, whilst still remaining at a lower price point.

The Honda NSX car stands for “New” “Sportscar”, “eXperimental”, following on from the 1984 Honda HPX (Honda Pininfarina eXperimental).

The first-generation Honda NSX became the world's first mass-produced car to feature an all-aluminium body.

Honda released a second-generation Honda NSX in 2016, the original name was retained, however this time it was defined as "New Sports eXperience".

The second-generation Honda NSX has a hybrid electric powertrain, with a 3.5 L twin turbocharged V6 engine and three electric motors.

The modern Honda NSX differs from the first generations all-aluminium body, with the second-generation body frame consisting of aluminium, ultra-high-strength steel, and other rigid and lightweight materials.
