Classic cars to converge on Land's End

Classic Car Rally

A host of classic vehicles are set to take part in what is arguably the UK's toughest rally - Le Jog - with entrants setting off from Land's End on their way to John O'Groats.

However, this is no high-speed jaunt through England and Scotland, as participants will be embarking on a 1,400-mile adventure through much of the two countries.

Seventy Iconic Rare Classic Cars Compete In Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation Event

In total, 70 cars have signed up to take part, including a wide variety of classic vehicles, including a Riley Sports Special from 1937, a 1958 Jaguar XK 150 and a 1960 Peugeot, as well as a host of BMWs, Triumphs and Porsches.

Tomas de Vargas Machuca, managing director of the Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation (Hero), said: "This will be one of the most testing events that we have ever run. The weather is already closing in but as in past editions the event has attracted crews from all over Europe and beyond."

He added that the weather is likely to play a key part in this year's event, but the drivers are all up for the challenge.

Hero's event director and clerk of the course for Le Jog Peter Nedin said: "We have no idea what the weather will bring but it certainly won't stop the drivers of these cars who will do all they can to finish [the] course no matter what the conditions."

Set to get underway on Saturday (December 10th), entrants will have four days to complete the mammoth course, with the event this year featuring the longest-ever night driving leg in its 17-year history.
