Business Insurance - Green car technology 'will make its way to normal vehicles in 5 years'

The technology currently being sported in electric cars will make its way towards conventional motors in the next five years.

This is according to Dr Ben Lane from nextgreencar.com - which provides independent information for those researching more environmentally friendly automobiles - who predicted there will be more hybrids and electrics within the time frame.

And he pointed out that standard cars today have already got on the first step towards becoming greener, which could interest those looking to improve their carbon footprint, with the introduction of Stop/Start technology.

He added: "There will be a nice feed in from pure electric vehicles down the line to making hybrids a little bit cheaper and conventional vehicles a bit cleaner."

This comes after the Nissan Leaf was named Car of the Year 2011, it was revealed in November last year, despite being the first full electric motor to be among the nominations.
