Classic car insurance: RM Auctions herald 2009 performance

Anyone after classic or retro car insurance may be interested to learn about RM Auctions' performance this calendar year – which featured sales of many top vehicles, such as the 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa.

Overall, it raised $190 million (£116.3 million) in sales – including 12 different auctions in four countries.

The auctioneers also broke their own record for the highest price achieved, which went to the aforementioned Ferrari for $12.4 million.

Additionally, 2009 saw the organisation break a whole host of world records for classic motors.

For instance, a landmark auction record for an Aston Martin DB2 was achieved for the 1950 Team Car VMF 64 model – which was offered for the first time in 52 years as part of the Automobiles of London event.

In related news, this year's Classic Motor Show recently smashed box office records – according to organisers - by attracting 48,000 visitors, which is about 8,000 more than the 2008 edition.
