Van Excellence members meet at Millbrook

Members of the Freight Transport Association's (FTA's) Van Excellence scheme got together to celebrate their accreditation at an event at Millbrook Proving Ground earlier this week.

The Bedfordshire circuit played host to the event on September 18th, with an array of new members to the initiative turning up to be accredited, including BT, Sainsbury's, the South Central Ambulance Service and DHL.

Dave Bowen, BT fleet managing director, said: "We take our operator's licence very seriously and have worked very closely with FTA over the years to ensure we work to best practice. Therefore, we are absolutely delighted to receive the Van Excellence accreditation today."

Mark Cartwright, the FTA's head of van & commercial vehicles, added it was fantastic to see such support for the scheme.

Last month, the FTA announced it was opening the accreditation process for Van Excellence up to all UK firms that could demonstrate they uphold its ideals of best practice in the maintenance and operation of these light commercial vehicles.
