Green van insurance customers may be keen to welcome CO2 targets

Eco-friendly van insurance customers might be interested to hear that Peugeot has welcomed the recently-announced CO2 targets.

The brand stated today (February 18th) it is in agreement with the aims to create more eco-efficient light commercial vehicles, which have been approved by the European Parliament.

Among the targets - which are expected to be met by 2014 - manufacturers should attempt to ensure 70 per cent of their van fleet has motors emitting 175 g/km of CO2 or less.

But one year on this will rise to 75 per cent, followed by 80 per cent 2016 and 100 per cent in 2017.

This should not affect some of the brand's fleet as it has the Peugeot 207 van, which emits just 110 g/km of CO2.

Last month, the company revealed it had a record-breaking year in terms of all-time vehicle sales as it sold more than 2.14 million units - an increase of 16.3 per cent.
