Finding convicted driver insurance may be least of speeding motorists' worries

Motorists may have more to worry about than searching for convicted driver insurance if they persist in speeding, it has been suggested.

According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (Rospa), travelling too quickly is a contributory factor in a significant number of fatal collisions.

It highlighted recent Department for Transport statistics that showed speeding was at least partly responsible for 25 per cent of all road deaths in 2008.

Rospa said it was a particular problem when it came to young male drivers.

Speeding was found to be a factor in 41 per cent of the crashes where men aged between 16 and 25 were killed.

Kevin Clinton, spokesman for Rospa, commented: "Even though the number of deaths and injuries on our roads has fallen, there are still too many lives devastated by road accidents."

Meanwhile, the group recently voiced support for a government anti drug-driving campaign.
