Business Insurance - Motorists 'should be wary of weather taking its toll on cars'

Business car insurance policyholders might be among those who should be wary of the weather taking its toll on cars.

According to Autoglym - which manufactures products in the world of automotive care and valeting - a motor's bodywork that has been polished and had a quality wax sealant applied to it will be useful in order to resist surface damage.

The company added: "Wiper mechanisms are not designed to shift heavy loads of snow and dragging the wipers across jagged ice on the windscreen will damage the blade, reducing its future effectiveness."

It pointed out the blades have a tendency to split if they are forced to remove heavy amounts of snow, while rubber seals and wipers become brittle in bad weather.

This comes after the organisation warned motorists in November to prepare for a big freeze, which brought some of the country to a standstill over the Christmas period.
