Business Insurance - Fuel cuts 'won't make a difference to finances'

The majority of people do not believe the 1p cut per litre of fuel will make a difference to their personal finances, with one expert saying there are steps that can be taken to reduce driving costs.

Commenting on the fact that 86 per cent of motorists feel the government's reductions will have no impact on their bank accounts, Moneysupermarket.com's Kevin Mountford recommended taking control of the costs of being on the road.

"Fuel prices have escalated higher than many people would've expected and UK drivers are desperate to see costs come down to a more affordable level," he remarked.

The price comparison site suggested several ways to lower expenditure, including shopping around for car insurance, as well as buying it online, while driving in the highest gear to use less petrol and making sure tyres are inflated to the right level, which can boost fuel economy.

It has also been seen that tax cuts are not being passed on by some garages, with a number of retailers upping their prices just before the duty cut was announced on March 23rd, so they could be dropped again later.
