Those on the lookout for solid, dependable estate cars to add to their fleet may find the Ford Mondeo ticks all of the relevant boxes, as it has just been named the best vehicle of its kind by one publication.

What Car? picked the Ford as its favourite estate car available today, praising it for its combination of practicality and driving thrills.

Fleet managers will find employees have plenty of space in which to carry items with them, as the boot is ample, according to the magazine.

"The boot isn't just big, it's well-shaped and easy to use. Sliding in large loads is simple because the load height is low, the floor is flat and the boot is free from intruding wheel arches," the source added.

Other cars which may appeal to fleet owners are Nissan's Qashqai and LEAF models, which were both successful at the 2011 Fleet World Honours.
