Business Insurance - Fleet managers 'want luxurious eco cars'

Fleet managers are looking for luxury, eco-friendly vehicles when they select new cars for their companies, a new study has revealed.

Volvo's recent DRIVe report of more than 250 fleet operators in the UK showed that level of luxury is the second most important factor in selecting a company car, following the amount of tax they will have to pay on the motor.

Selwyn Cooper, Volvo Car UK's national sales manager, explained: "High spec, sporty looking low emission models are increasingly becoming more readily available which, if made available across the company car choice list, shouldn't force organisations to incentivise drivers."

Meanwhile, those selecting cars with low emissions will benefit from the government's new lower Benefit in Kind tax bills, which could also encourage them to opt for greener models, according to Mr Cooper.

Fleet managers looking for a luxury, eco-friendly vehicle may wish to opt for the Lexus IS, which recently topped the JD Power Satisfaction Survey for the 11th year in a row.
