About MINI Insurance

Originally designed by Sir Alec Issigonis for the British Motor Corporation (BMC) the MINI has been in action since 1959, some even considering it to be a true British icon of the 1960s.

In the 1960s, Mini created two sporty versions of their iconic car, MINI Cooper and Cooper S, with both becoming successful rally cars, winning the Monte Carlo Rally a grand total of three times.

Marketed under the Austin and Morris names, the Austin Seven was renamed as the Austin MINI in 1962 and the Morris MINI-Minor became known as the MINI in 1969. The car was made even more popular in the 1960s by such UK style icons as The Beatles, Twiggy and, of course, in the classic movie, ‘The Italian Job’.

BMW acquired the Rover Group (formerly British Leyland) in 1994 and has been using the MINI name to produce and build the British classic ever since. 

Various modern editions of MINI have been produced including the likes of the MINI Countryman, MINI Cooper and the MINI Cooper S, however, classic MINIs, vintage MINIs and Austin MINIs are still extremely popular models and are in some cases  a rarity.
