Volvo has given a boost to many van insurance customers with the news that it is to install rear-view mirrors on its trucks from this summer.
The FM, FH and FH16 models will receive the upgrades as part of a safety drive from the firm, aimed at improving visibility at both the front and the rear of the vehicle.
The MotorcycleNews website claims that the change comes after it exposed the existence of a dangerous blind spot in the current configuration.
"With the new rear-view mirrors, we are improving the driver's scope for operating his truck in a safe way," commented Volvo Trucks product strategy manager Ulf Andreasson.
"We've repositioned the mirrors a bit further back and further out from the cab sides. The angle has been modified and the size of the mirror housing is smaller than before," he added.
Meanwhile Volvo has announced that it is to begin distributing some Nissan commercial vehicles in the UK as part of an agreement between the two firms.
