Drivers across Yorkshire have fallen victim to the recent snowfall, it has emerged.
Some motorists may have been grateful for their car or van insurance cover in light of the snowfall, which settled at between two and four centimetres deep across the region.
The York Press reports that police had to be called out 25 times in the morning of December 3rd to attend to vehicles that had come off the road, while others were snowed in, potentially resulting in van insurance claims for their owners should they have been damaged.
Responding to the situation, North Yorkshire Police driving instructor Dave Goudie suggested that motorists should always take care when driving, but extra measures should be taken when the roads are snowy.
"If the roads are snowy or icy, the first thing you need to consider is whether your journey is really necessary and, if it's isn't, don't go - simple as that," he said.
Parts of Scotland also saw snow recently, with up to 30 cm expected to have settled on the hills in the Grampian region last night.
