Van insurance holders looking to avoid a claim this Christmas might want to follow the advice of police in Cheshire and remove items from display in their automobiles.
The Northwich Guardian reports that a number of break-ins have taken place in recent weeks in parts of the county, such as Lymm, Grappenhall and Thelwall.
During the incidents, valuable items including laptops, satellite navigation systems and CD players were taken.
In response, Cheshire officers are advising drivers to remove all items from their vehicles.
"We need to make sure that drivers are not leaving an open invitation for thieves to target their vehicle," said Police Community Support Officer Simon Martindale.
He went on to urge motorists to remove all items from their vehicles and not leave anything on show.
"Preventing this type of crime only takes a few seconds and a bit of common sense," he added.
Meanwhile, the Home Office has reported that vehicle crime has dropped by 51 per cent since 1997, which may be good news for van insurance holders.
