Eco-conscious van insurance customers may be interested to hear that Citroen has been honoured in the 2008 Green Fleet Awards.
The company won light commercial vehicle (LCV) manufacturer of the year in recognition of its commitment to the environment demonstrated by the introduction of its Airdream programme.
Offering dual fuel vehicles, advanced catalyst technology and Trafficmaster's integrated driving solution, the system has been incorporated as standard across its entire LCV range.
The Trafficmaster product allows businesses to save money and improve productivity, while simultaneously reducing their carbon footprint.
It combines satellite navigation, real time traffic information, stolen vehicle tracking and tools which report things like mileage, unauthorised use and speeding.
According to Trafficmaster, customers using the technology have reduced fuel consumption by 12 per cent, lowered the amount of time they spend sitting in traffic jams by four hours a month and cut distances travelled by up to 16 per cent.
Last month, Citroen's compact high cube van – the Nemo – was awarded the title of International Van of the Year 2009.
