A number of drivers may have put their high performance car insurance premiums at risk by using a handheld mobile at the wheel.
The Oxford Mail reports that a recent two-hour police operation saw officers catch one motorist every eight minutes using their mobile while driving.
In addition, some 27 motorists were caught not wearing a seatbelt and five passengers had also failed to buckle up.
Police Constable Mark Pilling of the Abingdon traffic unit described the results as "disappointing", adding: "Drivers know this is illegal and the purpose of these checks is to educate them on the fact these laws are there for a reason and do save lives."
All those motorists caught on their phones received a £60 fine and three penalty points on their licence.
The Crown Prosecution Service suggested last year that dangerous drivers found to be using their mobiles at the wheel should potentially face a jail sentence.
