In news that may intrigue those who love motors with sporting aesthetics, Delta Motorsport has been named as the sole all-British company for a new environmental prize.
The Automotive X-PRIZE contest - backed by Progressive Insurance - will judge a series of electric vehicles that can run for 200 miles between charges.
Delta's E-4 Coupe has been entered for the accolade and will undergo tests in terms of braking distances and usability.
Also, the motor that takes home the prize needs to be ready for mass production.
As such, the company which was founded in 2005 may intrigue racing fans who are keen to learn of how fast vehicles can be combined with a great environmental performance.
Co-founder Simon Dowson explained: "We became involved with the design of environmentally friendly vehicles because they share many of the engineering challenges associated with motorsport - maximum efficiency, light weight, good aerodynamics and so on."
Meanwhile, the Geneva Motor Show, which finishes on March 14th, may also offer a welcome opportunity for sports car insurance customers to check out the latest eco-car trends.
