Drivers who potentially risk more than a claim on their performance car insurance by parking badly at a hospital are facing a crackdown.
Police are taking measures against motorists who have been parking outside the main entrance to Crewe's Leighton Hospital as the vehicles have been obstructing the path of emergency vehicles.
"Obviously, keeping routes clear is vital to the emergency services when added seconds of travel can cost lives," stated a spokesman for North West Ambulance Service.
Meanwhile, Community Support Officer Sarah Allibone said officers had started to hand out fixed penalty notices to motorists obstructing the road or pavement, the Crewe Guarain reports.
"At times this busy road is so badly obstructed that ambulances on blue light' calls to A and E have problems getting past," she stated.
Meanwhile, drivers in the Girlington area of Bradford have also been hampering the access of emergency vehicles, with firefighters stating that drivers who get stranded on a busy junction are blocking their path, the Telegraph and Argus reports.
