Sports car insurance for young drivers may prove to be a costly affair, but Seat is to launch a new vehicle that combines speed and style, while being cheaper to run.
Powered by a turbocharged diesel engine, the Seat Ibiza FR TDI is no slouch off the start line as it can complete the sprint from still to 62 miles per hour in 8.2 seconds.
Meanwhile, if motorists fancy a change in driving style, they can experience a return of 62.7 miles to the gallon on the combined cycle, while costs are cut by the generation of 119 g/km in carbon dioxide.
The car, which hits the market in March, is available as both a sporty SC or a more practical five-door model and can also accelerate to a top speed of 130 miles per hour.
Seat UK's Ibiza product manager Andy McGregor said: "The arrival of the Ibiza FR TDI signals our intention to make Seat a leader in the supermini sector.
"The outstanding economy and performance offered by these new Ibiza FR TDI models means these cars, too, should power to the top of their class."
Other vehicles from the Seat fleet that may appeal to different motorists include the Altea, Leon and Exeo.
