In a survey spanning ten years and polling 300,000 reader responses, the Jaguar XF was named the Auto Express Driver Power car of the decade.
The magazine sought responses from owners of hundreds of individual cars, evaluating dealer performance through to overall design and build, handling, and general ease of use.
Dr Ralf Speth, chief executive of Jaguar Land Rover and Andrew Whyman, the chief programme engineer for the performance car, accepted the award on behalf of the company, presented to them by Auto Express's acting editor Graham Hope.
Mr Hope said that "no model has demonstrated such consistent all-round ability as the XF", making it a worthy winner of the magazine's prestigious title.
Since 2007, Jaguar has sold over 37,000 units in the UK to prestige car insurance policyholders and sports car enthusiasts. With the latest model available from September 1st carrying a 2.2-litre engine and capable of travelling over 800 miles on a single tank, the model could well continue the strong sales trend of its predecessors.
"We are humbled by Jaguar owners voting in such a way to rate the XF as the number one car in the UK," commented Dr Speth on receiving the award, adding that it was a "tremendous achievement" for the company.
Meanwhile, the same team which designed the XF has unveiled early sketches of its Jaguar C-X16 production concept, due to make its global debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 13th.
Ian Callum, director of design for the manufacturer, claimed that successful Jaguars had always aimed to look to the future. The latest C-X16 will lead the newest series of cars for the brand by establishing new benchmarks in design, vehicle dynamics and technology, the company claims.
The brand became the official vehicle sponsor of England's cricket team during their latest series of Test matches against India. Managing director Geoff Cousins congratulated the team and declared that the company was proud to support the sport and the next generation of cricketers through the Jaguar Academy of Sport.
