Fast car insurance drivers 'may turn to Formula Zero'
27 Aug 2008
Fast car insurance customers with an eye on the environment as well as a need for speed may be interested in the new Formula Zero motor event.
According to New Scientist, the meet, which was staged in Rotterdam this weekend, is attempting to become the zero-emissions alternative to Formula 1.
It added that energy is stored inside vehicles using supercapacitors, which transfer power more quickly than regular batteries in order to help vehicles move faster.
Eelco Rietveld and Godert van Hardenbroek founded the event, with the latter stating that Formula Zero brings environmental-awareness and motor racing together.
"In the sustainable future that we want to live in, you can still drive around in circles just because you want to," he said.
Meanwhile, This Is Money has reported that fuel costs can be saved by motorists who convert their vehicles in order to run on liquefied petroleum gas.
