The price of car and bike insurance premiums could be set for a sharp increase after it was revealed that an extra two million could be caught by new road cameras.
The newest versions of the traffic calming devices come with an almost unlimited capacity to take pictures, severely reducing the chance of a driver avoiding a charge due to film having run out, according to the Daily Express.
The paper estimates that this could see the number of drivers caught rising from two million to four million a year.
Commenting on the story Performance Direct Marketing Director, Matthew Collett, said:
"Although there are many more people with points on their licenses this doesn't necessarily mean higher insurance premiums. At Performance Direct we look beyond the points and the driving and safety record. Points don't have to mean pounds or expensive convicted driver insurance!"
