Motorcycle insurance claims in West Yorkshire could be set to fall, after the police announced they were clamping down on thefts in the area.
Officers will be stopping bikes and mopeds in the city of Wakefield from next week, following a rise in the number stolen over recent months.
Large vans will also be inspected, as they are often used to transport motorcycles which have been taken by thieves.
Inspector Terry Murgatroyd explained everyone driving these types of vehicle could expect to be stopped over the coming weeks.
However, he insisted law-abiding road users had nothing to fear.
"We want to make sure that we don't make it easy for the criminal," he explained.
Police will be checking any bikes and mopeds stopped have not been stolen and are roadworthy - and that riders have the correct documentation.
In other news, the Institute of Advanced Motorists has urged the authorities to redesign crash barriers, in order to cut the number of riders killed on British roads.
