The number of motorcycle insurance claims being made in the UK may be falling, if new figures are anything to go by.
Statistics released by the Department for Transport have shown the number of rider fatalities and serious injuries dropped by ten per cent last year, compared with 2007.
During the 12 month period, 493 bikers were killed on Britain's roads the lowest number since 1996.
According to the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA), this suggests riding is becoming much safer, especially when the growing popularity of biking is taken into account.
Director of communications and research Sheila Rainger commented: "To see a fall in motorcycle fatalities of almost one hundred in a single year is a massive achievement - and one of which everyone working towards safer motorcycling can be proud."
However, she warned against complacency and stated there was still more to be done to help protect Britain's bikers.
In other news, MCIA recently called for the practical motorcycle test to be improved and made safer.
