People who have had to make a motorcycle insurance claim as the result of an accident recently may be interested to hear that Honda has unveiled new technology which it has claimed could reduce road casualties among bikers.
The vehicle-to-vehicle communication system was demonstrated for the first time earlier this week in Germany at the Car 2 Car Communication Consortium event.
Making use of wireless technology, the technology links bikes within a defined radio range.
Bikers using the device will be able to monitor the position, speed, direction and distance of surrounding vehicles and hopefully avoid potential danger.
Commenting on the innovation, general manager of Honda Motorcycles Steve Martindale said the manufacturer "fully supports the EU targets for traffic fatality reduction and we're pleased to be able to further our commitment under the European Road Safety Charter".
Earlier this month, the company announced it was giving away 45-litre colour-matched top-boxes and 360-degree heated grips to customers buying one of a number of models before March 31st 2009.
