Getting a good deal on motorcycle insurance may be just one of the ways bikers can save money, if the comments of one sector expert are anything to go by.
The Motorcycle Industry Association (MCI) has suggested by swapping four wheels for two, 5.5 million car commuters in the UK could reduce their outgoings.
A survey by the group found 24 per cent of people ride to work because it is a cheap option.
MCI also claimed employers would benefit if their staff used a motorbike to get to the office, as they would be less likely to get stuck in traffic.
The organisation released the findings of its study to coincide with National Motorcycle Week.
Commenting on the poll, spokesperson Sheila Rainger said: "This research lifts the lid on one of bikings best-kept secrets two wheeled commuters arent just saving time, they are saving money too."
Meanwhile, MCI recently welcomed statistics that showed nearly 100 fewer bikers died on Britain's roads last year, compared with 2007.
