Those who are on the lookout for motorcycle insurance or have previously been involved in road incidents may be interested in the comments of an expert, who explained that most accidents happen when the weather is good.
Neil Greig, director of policy and research at the Institute of Advanced Motorists, suggested that many riders should look to take extra precautions when they take the bike out.
He said: "Many riders simply avoid riding in bad weather or in the dark. The message is clear even if the conditions seem good for riding, accidents can still happen."
Additionally, Mr Greig pointed out that most accidents occur on Sundays, when 20 per cent more incidents are reported than on any other day.
In particular, young drivers might want to take extra care, as this age category is caught up in more crashes than people in their 30s and 40s.
Meanwhile, the MCI recently claimed that riders are half as likely as other motorists to drink before they make their journey.
