Honest road users who always ensure they pay for their motorbike insurance may be pleased to hear that a quarter of a million vehicles have been seized since increased police powers were introduced to tackle uninsured drivers.
However, the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) has said there is "still a massive problem".
Graeme Trudgill, Biba's technical and corporate affairs executive, stated there are more than two million people on UK roads without insurance.
Biba are due to meet with the government this week to discuss the issue further.
However, regardless of what decisions are made at the meeting, Mr Trudgill has warned uninsured motorists "if you own a vehicle but don't have insurance and that vehicle is on the road then you're going to be caught".
According to figures released by comparethemarket.com last month, UK drivers are paying an average of £31 a year more on their insurance policies as a direct result of uninsured road users.
