Honda gives motorcycle enthusiasts sneak preview of next year's models

Honda has unveiled its line-up for 2009 and it includes both new and updated bikes, motorcycle insurance customers might like to know.

The manufacturer said it was adding its electronically-controlled combined ABS system to the CBR1000RR Fireblade and CBR600RR Supersport bikes, while giving the off-road 2009 CRF450R a lightweight fuel-injection and ignition system.

In addition, the CRF250R has been refined, welcoming an updated Unicam engine which is lighter and more compact.

Honda said the styling of the motorcycle was "edgy" and featured various improvements to increase performance. It comes in a limited-edition black colour scheme with the shroud including a "unique flame graphic".

In related news, it emerged last week that representatives from the motorcycle sector had met with transport minister Jim Fitzpatrick to discuss a proposed six-month delay to the implementation of updated test procedures.

The industry said its concerns centred around the road safety risks that could threaten novice drivers as a result of the changes.
