Modified car fans 'will seek special tyres'

Most thrill-seeking vehicle enthusiasts are likely to base their tyre choices on road-handling ability, new research has revealed, something that may interest modified car insurance customers.

A study carried out by mechanic Kwik-Fit found that 72 per cent of drivers who put themselves in this category showed a tendency to examine the quality of high-performance products.

On the other hand, the majority of "cautious" motorists made their pick purely on how safe a purchase would make their travelling experience.

Customer services director of the organisation David White said that the data "makes for fascinating reading".

"It would appear that you really can judge many motorists by the car tyres they choose," he added.

According to Mr White, regardless of price and performance, consumers should always ensure their tyres are good quality.

Kwik-Fit offers a range of tread brands in over 570 stores across the UK, including Pirelli, Michelin, Continental and Bridgestone.
