Changes to car insurance laws are on their way and motorists must ensure they are cognisant with them or face the consequences.
Swinton has warned drivers that from June 20th it will be illegal to own an uninsured vehicle unless it has been declared off road.
Those who fail to adequately insure their car could face court action, a sizeable fine or having their motor confiscated and crushed.
Steve Chelton, insurance development manager at the company, said that drivers will have an amnesty of one month to comply with the regulations.
He added: "Uninsured drivers are not only a danger on the road but they cost motorists over £500m in extra premiums. It is great news for the insurance industry that these new rules will be strictly enforced."
Simon Jackson, commercial director at Carole Nash, said recently that the Continuous Insurance Enforcement law will provide a level of protection for honest, law-abiding motorists.
