Convicted driver insurance news: The United Nations' first ever global road safety week began yesterday (April 23rd) with the aim of reducing the number of people who die from road accidents.
Around 1,000 people die every day around the world as a result of road crashes, sometimes because of poor road laws but often simply due to motorists paying insufficient attention or drink driving.
This leads to an annual toll of 1.2 million people worldwide, causing serious injuries and forcing many motorists to seek out convicted driver insurance.
The campaign has been arranged to raise awareness of the need to improve road safety and Kevin Clinton, head of road safety at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), commented: "The UK has a very good road safety record, but we know there are many improvements which can still be made."
Mr Clinton continued: "If the challenges are difficult for us, then they are even tougher for many nations."
As well as reducing the number of road-related deaths and injuries, improvements in road safety could help to bring down car insurance premiums for the UK's drivers.
Although recent figures suggest that the average car insurance premium has fallen slightly this year, cheap car insurance for convicted drivers is still only offered by a small number of insurers.
