Checking car insurance cover 'is vital for convicted drivers'
02 Sep 2008
Convicted drivers need to check that the traffic violations they have committed do not affect their car insurance, according to Swiftcover.
Research by the group has revealed over 65 per cent of drivers did not realise that being caught out behind the wheel could invalidate their car insurance.
A further 83 per cent said they would not take this fact into account when buying cover.
Commenting on his company's findings, spokesperson Craig Staniland said: "While there are numerous measures and campaigns to improve driving standards, many people still take liberties while driving."
He stated the fact the majority of drivers were unaware that a conviction for something like speeding could affect the status of their car insurance was "a major concern".
