Top classic car model to return to victory scene

Classic car insurance customers may be interested to hear that the Jaguar D-Type racing car is set to celebrate a major Le Mans victory 50 years on from the big day.

In 1957, four Jaguar D-Type classic cars swept the board by taking first, second, third, fourth and sixth place in the 24-hour race at Le Mans.

To celebrate, the victorious cars will be among an array of D-Types that will parade at Le Mans before this year's race on June 16th.

A relative of Jaguar's original founder is working with the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust to make the show a success.

Michael Quinn, grandson of Sir William Lyons, said: "The 1957 victory for Jaguar was such a landmark at Le Mans that we were determined that the 50th anniversary of it should be properly celebrated."

Jaguar was originally founded in Blackpool in 1922. The D-Type classic sport car was first entered in the Le Mans race in 1954.
