Classic car owners have turned out en masse as part of an informal campaign to show that their pastime is more significant than is commonly assumed.
Sunday saw drivers from across the country gather to celebrate the historic vehicle movement, with the hobby's distinctly British roots emphasised by the fact that the event took place on St George's Day.
A large number of the UK's 400,000 classic vehicles were expected to take to the roads, with officials emphasising the importance of promoting their pursuit.
"Our purpose is to uphold the freedom to use old vehicles on the road,” said Jim Whyman, secretary of event organisers the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs, according to the EDP 24 website.
The Motorbase website advises that vintage vehicle motorists, catered for in the UK via the likes of classic car insurance, are under threat in other countries due to regulations restricting their usage on public roads.
