Classic car insurance news: A female classic cars fan from Huddersfield is planning to try her luck at motor racing superstardom by entering a competition.
Louise Thompson, aged 35, has been selected from thousands of women to take part in the 2007 Formula Woman Championship along with 99 other hopefuls in a bid to bag a place in the last 16, reports The Huddersfield Daily Examiner.
Ms Thompson, a manager with the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, owns a classic Porsche sports car and said her motoring fascination began at a young age.
"I have been a passenger in a Nascar, I worked for a local Jaguar dealership, raced on track days and drive a classic sports car, now I aim to achieve my ultimate goal of being a racing driver, she said.
The classic car fan added that she was preparing well for the competition and had excelled in other parts of the competition, with the hope of doing the same at elimination camp.
Meanwhile, 33-year-old Lesa Simmons from Kent is also taking part with the goal of eradicating stereotypes surrounding women drivers, News Shopper reports.
