Even drivers of classic cars could benefit from satnavs

Classic car insurance customers might be reluctant to equip their vintage vehicle with a satellite navigation device (satnav) but they may achieve reduced stress levels and lower fuel bills as a result, it has been suggested.
A recent survey by satnav manufacturer TomTom found that nearly three-quarters (74 per cent) of motorists using one experienced an increased feeling of control behind the wheel.
Over half said they felt more alert when using one of the gadgets and 77 per cent said they rely on a satnav to help them relax while on the road.
Jenny Hodge is the public relations manager for TomTom in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and said drivers may find navigational devices help reduce mileage - something which may interest drivers of classic cars.
"Use of a satnav reduces the number of miles driven and the time spent travelling, which in turn has a positive effect on the environment and fuel costs," she explained.
Most satnavs come equipped with a holder which can be removed when the car is left unattended.
