Classic car enthusiasts witness Moss come top of class
01 Oct 2008
In motoring news that may interest classic car insurance customers, Stirling Moss has won his class in the under-1500cc drum-braked class of the one-hour Woodcote Trophy for pre-1956 racing drivers at Spa, organised by Motor Racing Legends.
The famous Scot drove his own Osca FS372, which remained unpainted because he and driving partner Rick Earl could not agree on the colour.
Moss not only won his class, he was also honoured with the Spirit of the Woodcote Trophy award.
He was considered to be the most worthy recipient of the accolade as a result of the two years he spent restoring the Osca.
The overall winner in the Woodcote Trophy race was Marc Devis's Maserati 250SI, while Ben Eastick in his Jaguar D-type took second spot, closely followed by Lukas Huni and Gary Pearson in the same model in third.
Earlier this year the Heritage Parade organised by Motor Racing Legends saw some 60 Ferraris take to the Le Mans Track on the morning of the famous 24-hour race.
