Plans for Toyota to join with the Clean Energy Partnership (CEP) will see hybrid fuel cell cars and hydrogen filling stations established across Europe, greatly aiding the programme for sustainable mobility.
Toyota hopes to commercialise hydrogen powered vehicles by 2015, making them widely available to corporate businesses. By collaborating with CEP, Toyota has already committed to contributing five of its zero-emissions FCHV-adv hydrogen fuel cells to the CEP scheme by 2011.
As companies take steps to reduce their carbon footprints, no doubt rewards will be dished out through business insurance for those organisations looking to provide low cost, low carbon, energy efficient company cars. Toyota could be the manufacturer to provide just such vehicles.
The 2010 Geneva Motor Show has seen Toyota showcase the new Auris HSD (Hybrid Synergy Drive) - its latest electric hybrid - and new fuel cell technologies which they hope will take motoring into the next stage of affordable sustainable mobility.
The Auris HSD can be driven in electric mode alone for up to 1.2 miles at a speed of up to 50 kph resulting in zero CO2 emissions.
