Individuals looking for a vehicle range that combines popularity with cheap business car insurance may want to look at the models on offer from Skoda.
The manufacturer rose above a troubled period for the motoring industry in 2009 by bettering its previous sales record.
In total, Skoda shifted 684,226 cars last year, which represented a 1.4 per cent rise on that achieved in 2008.
Some 37,200 of these sales were completed in the UK, with Skoda Fabia, Octavia and Superb models proving the most sought after.
Reinhard Fleger, Skoda Auto's board of directors member responsible for sales, said: "During this difficult time that the global economy is experiencing, we have managed to stabilise the company's sales.
"We have counted on a high standard of quality for our products, innovations and an expansion of our range of models."
The Skoda Superb is among the vehicles that may appeal most to businesses, as it can reach a top speed of 125 miles per hour, while providing 41.5 miles to the gallon for motorists on the combined fuel cycle.
Meanwhile, the vehicle was also honoured by Top Gear as the top luxury car on the market for 2009.
