Small and medium-sized enterprises on the lookout for SME insurance might want to consider joining the Driving for Better Business programme, which the Royal Mail has recently benefited from.
The postal provider has acquired 'business champion' status due to its implementation of the strategy, which is delivered by RoadSafe and supported by the government.
In total, 50,000 of the group's 90,000 drivers have undergone risk assessments.
Additionally, many of the striking red vans used by the Royal Mail have been fitted with speed limiters improving road safety further.
The body's technical safety manager Melvyn Hodgetts said: "We have a responsibility to make sure we provide a safe environment for our people and the communities in which we operate."
As such, traders who rely on vehicles to carry out their daily business affairs could consider signing up to the programme.
Meanwhile, a recent survey conducted for the ABI by YouGov outlined the numerous dangers that drivers can face on the road.
In total, 72 per cent of people said drivers who use mobile phones at the wheel are the most likely group to cause accidents followed by young male drivers (45 per cent) and uninsured drivers (34 per cent).
