A new DIY piggy back engine control unit (ECU) for the 4WD 148bhp Subaru Impreza 2.0 Diesel may open the model up to the business world with its performance enhancement, increased bhp and improved driver enjoyment.
U-connect, a plug and play fitment produced by Unichip Europe, enables subtle tweaks and adjustments to the Impreza's fuelling by intercepting signals from the factory vehicle sensors. Unichip claims the plug and play device enhances the overall driving experience without compromising on economy or reliability. Such improvements could bring more business insurance seekers to the Subaru brand.
Unichipped Impreza Diesels have been road-tested and shown to gain 17 bhp and 36 lb ft of torque over the standard Impreza - making any journey more pleasurable.
The launch of Unichip's U-connect comes as Subaru debuts its new Hybrid Tourer at the 80th Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland, partnering two electric motors with a turbocharged petrol Boxer engine.
