Business Insurance - Eco-technologies could boost business insurance seekers

Eco-technologies could boost business insurance seekers

The uptake of electric cars by UK businesses and public sector organisations looks set to be boosted after a transmission specialist agreed a new deal to develop new technology for the green motoring sector.

With a number of local councils as well as several police forces already taking out business insurance on their growing fleets of business cars, it has been confirmed that Antonov is to work alongside Jaguar and MIRA on the new initiative.

The one-year project, which is being supported by the government's Technology Strategy Board, will see the partners work together to develop a high-efficiency two-speed transmission suitable for use in a range of electric vehicles.

It is hoped that the technology could be ready for commercial application within the next couple of years, thereby potentially boosting interest in eco-friendly cars and increasing the number of business insurance seekers across the UK.

News of the partnership comes soon after the government announced that £30 million is to be made available to install thousands more charging points for electric and hybrid points.Copyright Performance Direct News
