Chancellor Alistair Darling's support for low-carbon vehicles in his pre-Budget speech has been warmly received by some experts in the business community.
John Lewis, chief executive of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association, suggested that the developments represent good news for enterprises.
He said: "We are really pleased that the Chancellor has listened to our call to modernise the business tax regime and give a clear, long-term incentive for companies willing to be early adopters of electric cars and vans."
Mr Lewis went on to note that the incentives that may be introduced from 2011 of between £2,500 and £5,000 might help many customers secure low-carbon motors.
As such, business car insurance customers might want to consider the savings that can be made from opting for an eco-friendly model.
However, marketing manager of FleetDirectory.co.uk Richard Lawton argued that the incentives may not be effective while there is a lack of recharging infrastructure outside central London.
