Ferrari Designer, Sergio Scaglietti 1920 – 2011

Sadly, Sergio Scaglietti has died at the ripe old age of 91. Famous and loved for his sweepingly beautiful Ferrari designs in the 1950s and 1960s, Scaglietti died in his home town of Modena in Italy on 20th November 2011.

Born in 1920, Ferrari's “maestro of aluminium” was compared to Michelangelo in his day, a comparison that would be preposterous if it wasn't so apt. Steve McQueen's Porsche 911 Sells For Over A Million Dollars

Steve McQueen's love affair with what we now appreciate as classic cars, inspired him to consider becoming a professional racing car driver. McQueen won the 3 litre class in the annual 12 Hours of Sebring motor sport endurance race in 1970 driving his Porsche 908 with co-driver Peter Revson. Mcqueen somehow completed this race with his foot in plaster following a motorbike accident a fortnight before. Just 23 seconds behind overall winner Mario Andretti and his partner in a 5 litre Ferrari, it was pretty clear McQueen was blessed with a choice of professions.More...



Sultan of Brunei sells off his Supercar collection

While reading through some motoring news I have recently stumbled across this almost unbelievable collection of sports cars and prestige vehicles for sale on JamesList.com which is an auction site selling luxury goods.  Once the richest man in the world, the Sultan of Brunei is now selling off a few of the rarest and most exotic vehicles you could ever hope to see, although it is a mere snip of his entire automotive collection which is supposed contain hundreds of vehicle's stored in buildings behind bomb proof gates.  I mean, how many people have in their garage these particular 21 unwanted vehicles:  Bentley Arnage, Ferrari F355, Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, Ferrari 575M Superamerica, Ferrari 430 Spider, Ferrari 550 Maranello, Ferrari 512, Ferrari 348, Ferrari Testarossa, Maserati 4200, Ferrari F50, Ferrari F40, BMW ItalDesign Nazca V12, Lambourghini Cizeta V16T, Jaguar XJ220, Lamborghini Diablo, Lamborghini Countach, Mercedes Benz CLK DTM AMG (there's 2 of these if you're counting), Rolls Royce Phantom and a Ferrari Enzo, which like many of the cars is unregistered and only has only delivery mileage on it.  For all intents and purposes it is a brand new car despite dating back to 2004.
